Welcome to our new website!
2024 has been a year of tremendous growth for Spyher as the company transitions from a professionalized hobby to a true-blue small business. As we look toward future expansion, we’d like to reflect on how we got here and express our gratitude to the supporters and partnerships without whom Spyher would not be a growing business today. Not all names are named and not all contributions are spelled out. Suffice it to say that it’s been quite a journey
November 2017 - June 2019
Thank you Robert Kelleman, Benjamin Fabre and Matt Blitz!
- Before we were Spyher there were the occasional spy-themed tours for Meet Up - Washington DC History and Culture. These began near the Russian Embassy and ended in Dupont Circle and have evolved into what is today the Embassy Row Spy Tour! Â
- A brokered introduction to Atlas Obscura results in what’s today the Georgetown Spy Tour. Atlas Obscura merges with AirBNB Experiences and the Georgetown Spy Tour becomes accessible to the Atlas Obscura and AirBNB Experiences audience. This is our de facto launch of regularly scheduled Georgetown Spy Tours.
April 2021
Spyher is founded.
May 2021 - June 2024
Thank you George Imredy, Rebecca Franz, Michael McLaughlin, Lexi Rider, Mila Nikolaeva, Gina D’Angelo, Cameron Duke, Nikole Torregiante, DECANTER/1, Glenn Corn, Will Barr, Kevin Smith, Jerry Decker and more who wish to remain nameless, Emily Young, Emma Hager, Darby Jones, Ian Clarke, and many, many more supporters and industry professionals who have been a pleasure to work with!
- George Imredy joins the Spyher team and immediately adds fun, interactive spycraft elements to the Georgetown Spy Tour and the Embassy Row Spy Tour. These new features are a hit with guests. By the end of this period the talent pool of Spyher hosts expands and includes Glenn Corn, Will Barr, Kevin Smith and more who wish to remain nameless. Special thanks to George!
- Website launches, thanks to Halibut Blue, whom we were introduced to by a Georgetown Spy Tour alum.
- Destination Management Companies discover Spyher’s espionage-themed tours and events and begin booking these unique spy experiences for their clients. By November 2023, the list of events includes Vintage Espionage, a wine tasting with an espionage twist, developed and delivered by a former CIA officer turned sommelier. Thank you, Hosts-Global and PRA!
- DCist highlights the Embassy Row Spy Tour as a Top Three Things to do in the Washington D.C. area. The Embassy Row Spy Tour sells out immediately and for at least the subsequent six months. Thank you, DCist!
- Spyher’s Straight from the Source is baked into a STEM tour scheduled to launch in 2025, and Education First introduces the Georgetown Spy Tour and Embassy Row Spy Tour to the itineraries of school groups traveling to Washington, D.C., from across the country.Â
May - August 2024
Momentum grows!
- The number of people and companies impacting Spyher’s growth has become too high to name everyone. Still, we would be remiss not to thank the all-star team at EJP Marketing Co., Founder and CEO Ayona Anderson, and exceptionally talented Strategic Communicator Mikea Jackson. These experts in SEO, Social Media, and more have developed the Spyher brand, increased brand awareness, and enabled engagement with a new crop of partners and collaborators. Without this team in place, continued growth would be limited. Last but not least, we would like to recognize the work of Peak Momentum in developing and launching this new website! Referred by EJP Marketing Co., they’ve been creative and collaborative and have brought a high level of expertise to the new website. Thank you, Stephen Smith!
Looking ahead
Spyher’s Next Chapter as a Provider of Spy Tours & Experiences!
New Partnerships: Â Leaning into a model that has worked for us so well, Spyher will grow existing partnerships and develop new ones to give our guests the best spy experience possible.
For example:
Korita Chocolate: This local DC business produces luxury craft bean-to-bar chocolate handmade using premium award-winning heirloom cacao beans directly traded from the Ashaninka Indigenous tribe in Peru. It’s the perfect complement to Pinot Noir and elevates our Vintage Espionage wine-tasting event.
Education First: Uniting traveling student groups with unique experiences, Spyher looks to expand spy experiences to students traveling to New York City and Hawaii.
Hotels across Washington D.C. and New York City: In lockstep with local concierges, Spyher will offer tours beginning and ending at select hotels. Hotel visitors across DC and the Financial District will also have easy access to booking links through a digital concierge.
Corporate Experiences:Â A growing number of inquiries come in for corporate experiences, and Spyher looks forward to answering the call with one-day events in Washington, D.C., and a premier four-day offsite in New Hampshire.
Expanded Hours: Traditionally, publicly available Spyher tours have been limited to Sundays. Starting in September 2024, these tours are now available Wednesday through Sunday and upon request with two weeks' notice and pending host availability.
